On Nov. 3-5, the highest temperature was higher by more than 10 degrees with 23 degrees in Seoul, 25 in Daejeon, and 24 in Busan. The unusually warm weather has grown more frequent as the North Pacific high, which is supposed to shrink significantly by now, has maintained its presence. The high sends off warm air to the Korean Peninsula like a fan heater. The weather watchdog said Tuesday will see
relatively warmer weather with 14 degrees in Seoul, 17 in Daejeon, 18 in Jeonju, Mokpo and Busan, and 19 in Gwangju.Even after rain falls nationwide Wednesday, the temperature won`t drop significantly. It`ll be rather higher than the average, a weather forecaster said.The warm weather will continue until early December. The high temperature has a negative impact on farming. Farmhouses producing dried persimmon in Sangju, North Gyeongsang Province have suffered damage as persimmon lost their stalk end before being dried and went moldy. Dried persimmon need low temperature and dry weather. North Chungcheong and the western region of Gangwon Province are expected to see a 20-percent decline in the production of dried persimmon.

An unusual topsy-turvy weather pattern brought rare November snow and cold to the southern USA on Monday. The snow, up to 4 inches in some spots, could cause travel trouble Tuesday morning in parts of Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas. The National Weather Service posted winter storm advisories. Memphis could pick up 1-3 inches of snow. Meanwhile, unusual warmth continued Monday along the Eastern Seaboard and into New England. On Monday, while Starkville, Miss., shivered at 39 degrees, in Portland, Maine, about 1,200 miles to the northeast, the temperature was a balmy 63 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. A record-high temperature of 70 degrees was recorded Sunday and Monday at Washingtons Dulles International Airport, the weather service reported. The cause of the weird weather is a sharp dip in the jet stream that is funneling the cold air into the Deep South, Weather Channel meteorologist Mark Ressler said. He said an upper-level low-pressure area has also formed over the South, which is bringing the snow. At the same time, the East has seen a southerly flow of air all the way up the Atlantic coast. How rare is November snow in the South? According to Weather Channel meteorologist Jon Erdman, the last time measurable snow fell in Birmingham, Ala., was in 1950, and in Nashville, it most recently fell in 1966. In Memphis, Erdman reported that there have been only three days with snow in November since 1875. The snow should taper off early today in the South, Ressler said, but cool temperatures will remain . The lower Great Lakes will see significant rain and snow today. The heaviest snow is likely in central Michigan. In the East, the warmth will continue for one more day, before temperatures return to late-November averages by Wednesday and Thursday.

Five people have been killed and more than 700 houses destroyed on the eve of the UNs COP17 climate-change conference when torrential rains fell in some parts of KwaZulu-Natal. The latest deaths bring to 10 the number of people killed by flooding in the province in two weeks. The areas affected by storms were Claremont, Isipingo, Umlazi, Pietermaritzburg, Durban, Newlands and Chesterville. Delegates to the Durban conference, which opened yesterday, are discussing the effects of climate change - which include disastrous weather patterns. UN climate-change official Christiana Figueres said yesterday that though climate change had not caused the flooding in KwaZulu-Natal, the inundation was a harbinger of more unseasonal and abnormal weather as a result of climate change. What we witnessed last night was unseasonable weather of the type we are seeing all over the world as greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere continue to rise, she said.Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Department spokesman Lennox Mabaso said the departments disaster teams had been dispatched to affected areas . Mabaso said Qondeni Ximba, 17, and Lindiwe Zulu, 37, were killed in Umlazi. Three members of a family died when the house that they were renting collapsed. In other areas, houses were flooded and people lost food and furniture.

A storm ravaging southwestern Sweden has cut off the electricity supply to some 12,000 homes and has disrupted ferry services between Sweden and Germany. Ferry operator Scandlines said Sunday it has canceled its operations between Swedish town Trelleborg and Sassnitz in Germany due to the storm. Another operator, TT-Line said its ferries from Trelleborg to Rostock and Travemunde were severely delayed. Utilities Vattenfall, Fortum and Eon said the storm has cut off electricity supply to around 12,000 of their clients. The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute has issued a class 3 warning for the storm, its highest level, saying the extreme winds could pose danger to the public and disrupt services.

Wulkan Galeras gotowy do erupcji, ewakuowano 8 tyś. osób

Wulkan Galeras jest już aktywny niemal przez ostatni milion lat, jego ostatnia erupcja miała miejsce 9 czerwca 2009 r. a teraz ponownie zbliża się do kolejnej erupcji. Galeras położony jest w południowo-zachodniej Kolumbii, 9 km od wulkanu znajduje się miasto o nazwie Pasto. Wulkan Galeras jest najbardziej aktywnym wulkanem w Kolumbii.

Jak poinformował Kolumbijski Instytut Geologii Ingeominas wulkan Galeras jest w stanie dużej aktywności i potencjalne zagrożenie spowodowane erupcją wulkanu staje się coraz bardziej poważne. Instytut ten zalecił także ewakuację 8 tyś. osób z pobliskich miejscowości, miast sąsiadujących z wulkanem.

Dla mieszkańców tamtejszych terenów został ogłoszony alarm pomarańczowy który jest drugi w czterostopniowej skali, wydanie alarmu pomarańczowego oznacza że niedługo może dojść do erupcji.

Od ponad miesiąca w Polsce mamy do czynienia z pogodową "nudą". Jedynym urozmaiceniem, niestety bardzo uciążliwym i niebezpiecznym były mgły i zamglenia. Dziś już od raza sytuacja jest bardzo zmieniona i wymaga komentarza. Ośrodki wysokiego ciśnienia, które opanowały wschód i południe Europy delikatnie mówiąc lekko ustępują, co za tym idzie dają szanse przebić się nad Skandynawię ośrodkom niskiego ciśnienia. Jeden z nich powoli i sukcesywnie przesuwa się na północny wschód ciągnąc za zobą front atmosferyczny. Co to oznacza dla mieszkańców Polski. Jak większośc z nas zauważyła już od rana wzrasta prędkośc wiatru a w niektórych regionach Polski pólnocnej pada niewielki deszcz. Wiatr będzie się zmagał z każdą chwilą. Spodziewamy się, że dziś wieczorem nad morzem wiać już będzie z prędkością do 80 km/h.Noc z soboty na niedziele z coraz silniejszym wiatrem. Na Bałtyku już sztorm o sile 10 stopni w skali Beaufourta.Apogeum silego wiatru spodziewane jest w niedziele i w nocy z niedzieli na poniedziałek kiedy to dwa przeciwne do siebie ośrodki - cyklon i antycyklon będą najbliżej siebie oddziaływać. Wiatr nad morzem mosie osiągać 120 km/h w głebi Polski 60-75 km/h a na południu do 50 km/h. Na Bałtyku sztorm sięgnie 12 stopnia w 12 stopniowej skali. Wiatr powinien osłabnąc już w poniedziałek jednak do tego momentu zachowajmy ostrożność i zabierzmy wolno leżące przedmioty z podwórek i balkonów, które mogłyby zostać porwane przez wiatr.
